![]() Cure Kids.Hi, I would like to sincerely thank GO FAST and in particular Vaughan Small for their support and generous help during my training and fundraising efforts for Cure Kids. Cure Kids is the face of the Child Health Research Foundation – an organisation established over 30 years ago to address the lack of research into life-threatening childhood illnesses in New Zealand, Cure kids is a non-government funded research organisation. Since then, Cure Kids have invested over $21 million in medical research. This research has helped save hundreds of young lives and has improved the quality of life for thousands of children. Today, Cure Kids are more committed than ever to help find answers to the many cruel, life-threatening illnesses that devastate the lives of young children and their families. Please check out their website for more details on their incredible work. www.curekids.co.nz · Cure kids have funded research into, Asthma, Breakthroughs into the causes of childhood leukaemia, Childhood Diabetes, Childhood Heart Conditions, Internationally adopted treatment for cystic fibrosis, Life-saving cot death preventative strategies, Liver Disease, Spina Bifida, Placental cord Blood Banking, Treatment for hole in the heart blue babies, Just to name a few things they do. Cure Kids have help my family when one of my daughters Jorja, pulled a freshly poured cup of tea onto herself. We ended up in hospital with Jorja having numerous skin grafts done on her chest and neck, We learnt that the people that had helped us was a group called Cure kids and they had developed a national skin bank to help people like Jorja. This skin bank that is used by so many today cost a measly $20,000 half the price of a new car, it’s not a lot really is it. The skin bank is made up of scientist taking a piece of your healthy skin and growing into a sheet large enough to cover most burns and being made from the same cells as your own the chance of rejection is almost zero. This is just our experience with cure kids, there are many families affected by the work these great people do in various other ways. It just not the research either..Cure Kids take these children and parents on trips to Queenstown, Xmas party at rainbows end and pyjama parties at the Accor hotels just to name a few things they put on for the kids and families. What am I doing, well I’m going to try and repay something back to cure kids for all the help they have done for so many, when we get to a certain part of our lives and there’s a bit more time in the day, works good, The family is a bit more independent its time to give something back. So with the help of GO FAST SPORTS I’ am going to training and do the 2010 NZ ironman in Taupo next march. To raise funds and awareness to the work Cure Kids do for Kiwi family’s.
